Ukraine
Blue over yellow is read simply as sky over wheat, a plain description of Ukraine's own landscape rather than a coat of arms or a dynasty. The colours are medieval, tied to the old kingdom of Galicia-Volhynia, but the plain two-band flag itself dates only to 1918.
