Bermuda Triangle
The name was coined in a 1964 magazine article, and systematic research since has found nothing supernatural in the region's history of lost ships and planes. Most of the Atlantic's worst storms already pass directly through it, and the strong Gulf Stream current can carry wreckage far from where a ship actually went down.
