Mandela Effect
Blogger Fiona Broome coined the term in 2010 after discovering she was not alone in misremembering Nelson Mandela's death. She believed, wrongly, that he died in prison in the 1980s, when he actually survived to become president and lived until 2013. The name stuck to every shared false memory since.
